Alig múlt 20 éves, amikor Karissa Pukas úgy döntött, mellimplantátumokat tetet be, hogy B kosarát nagyobbra cserélje. A műtét után nem sokkal kezdte magát rosszul érezni, szinte azonnal tudta, hogy a plasztikai beavatkozás során történt valami hiba. Az orvosok azonban nem akartak hinni neki.

Közvetlenül a műtét után csak a normálisnak mondható fájdalom jelentkezett nála, azonban később rossz hangulatra, depresszióra panaszkodott. A bőre pattanásos lett, szinte állandóan fáradt volt. Újra orvoshoz fordult, ugyanis szinte azonnal tudta, hogy az implantátum lehet a hibás.

Almost 5 months. Almost all symptoms reversed. I have energy, I have power and I feel like myself after such a long time with my head under the water. It’s been incredible. After struggling for so long, I have my health back. Breast implants were the single most stupid thing I’ve done to my body. I drank the coolaid- I thought I did right by going to multiple consults and reading forums online. I was headstrong thinking this was what I needed to feel more like a woman. So trusting that the medical industry knew all if the procedure was so common. Totally naive. They are not safe. They never have been. There is no long term study’s showing breast implants are safe, or even showing that any of the 40+ chemicals that make up the implant product are safe. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO ARE TELLING YOU THESE ARE SAFE ARE THE PEOPLE TRYING TO SELL YOU A PRODUCT. Not to mention, if they do- it’s almost guaranteed income every ten years as you’ll need to have them routinely replaced. STOP trusting the people who are trying to sell you a product and dig for the actual fact. What is really happening here?! You can’t let an industry like this self regulate. Shame on the FDA for allowing it in the first place. It’s like asking the cigarette industry be in charge of publishing all health data on their products. The global breast implant industry is anticipating 2 Billion dollars of revenue - do you think they want that to change? Probably not. Wake up. Look at the non biased information and medical papers of people who are NOT benefiting from the sales of breast implants. Az orvosok azonban azt mondták, minden rendben volt a több,mint 8000 dolláros műtét során. Végül mégis talált egy orvost, aki kivette a szilikonokat a lány kebleiből, ekkor kiderült, hogy valóban hibát vétettek az operáció alatt. Karissa ma már igyekszik úgy elfogadni a testét, ahogyan az van.
